Backlit Saturn
Infrared, red-filtered, and violet-filtered images taken by the Cassini spacecraft were combined to create this mosaic .

Cassini has been circling Saturn for over 8 years, beaming back beautiful images like the one seen above.
This image captured a view from Saturn's shadow — Saturn sits between Cassini and our sun in this image. Consequently, the planet and its rings are backlit by the sun, granting scientists a better look into Saturn's atmosphere and rings.
