The NGC 6357 nebula, pictured above, hosts some of the brightest star systems in the universe. Surrounded by massive pillars of dust, plasma and gas, these stars help form elaborate galactic structures.

Scientists initially thought that some of the nebula's brightest objects were single stars, but several are actually multiple star systems.
