Endeavour Flight

Space Shuttle Endeavour flew over Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas on September 19, 2012 prior to its daylong public display at a nearby airfield. The next day, it flew to Los Angeles for permanent display at the California Science Center. To transport the shuttle's after their retirement, NASA used the Space Shuttle Aircraft, which has ferried shuttles across large swaths of the United States. The most recently built shuttle, Endeavour was constructed to replace Space Shuttle Challenger after the 1986 disaster that claimed seven astronauts' lives.
