Quantum Reality

Location: Tryon Creek State Park, Portland, Oregon

When Oregonians look up, they often see rain clouds and the  crowns of Doug Fir trees, but in Tryon Creek State Park in Portland, Oregon,  when hikers glance up at the trees, they might be surprised to see a thirty  foot buckyball sculpture cascading through the branches of these towering  trees.  This sculpture called “Quantum  Reality” was inspired by the artist's, Julian Voss-Andraea's, graduate research  demonstrating that buckyballs (C60) can go through two openings at  once, demonstrating that despite their size, they exhibit quantum behavior.
